Capt. George W. Kouns

Died. In New Orleans, on Nov. 25th, 1860, of flux, Capt. George W. Kouns, of Burlington, this county, and commander of the Red River steamer Red Chief No. 1, aged about 33 years. His remains passed up to Burlington, last Saturday, and his funeral was on Monday of this week, attended by a large number of people, with the rites of the Masonic Fraternity, of which he was a member. He was a native of the vicinity of Burlington, and was one of the truest men ever raised in Lawrence county, generous and honorable in all his relations, and highly esteemed by all. He leaves a family of four children, his wife, a daughter of Judge Scovil, having died some four years since.
