    William W. Brubaker, 90, lifelong resident and farmer, of South Point, died Friday at 8:15 p.m. at his home after two months illness.
    Mr. Brubaker was born March 22, 1869 in South Point, son of the late Daniel and Nancy Davidson Brubaker.
    He was united in marriage on December 24, 1894 to Nettie Winters, who survives.
    Mr. Brubaker was a member of the South Point Baptist Church all his life. -----------continues.

    After an illness of two and one half years duration, Daniel Brubaker, 85 died at his home at Sheridan, Ohio early Wednesday morning. Although death was not unexpected announcement of the passing of this pioneer resident threw a shroud of sorrow around the homes of friends.
    Mr. Brubaker was born, reared and spent his entire life in the vicinity of Sheridan and during the time made innumerable friends by his upright character and winning personality. His passing is the community's loss and his place will not soon be filled. Two daughters and one son survive.

    Daniel came west from the Shenandoah Valley on horseback with a bag of money hidden in his bed roll, to buy land in Perry Township, at the mouth of Solida Creek. He first ran a grind mill then later a sawmill. {taken from "History of Lawrence Co., Ohio 1990 page 99}

    Marshal Shutes information reads: Judge John Davisson, father of Margaret who married Daniel Brubaker. Judge John Davisson was born in Maryland in 1777, came to Ohio in 1801. He was the first judge of Lawrence County, and served three terms in State Legislature 1821 to 1826. Judge John Davisson married Susanah Lambert, who was born in New Jersey 20 days after the signing of the Declaration of Independence4.

  3. 6.  William Warrington Davidson was born 6 Nov. 1798, Fayette County, Pennsylvania (son of William Davidson and Barbara McDole); died Oct. 1883.

    Notes:

    William came to Ohio with his father in 1799, when he was only six months old. He was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania. He had been a minister of the gospel for about fifty years. In 1833 William Warrington donated land for South Points first church building where the congregation began attending. He was ordained a minister in 1842 and pastor the church. His sons were active in farming and steamboat operations. His son Fuson by his first wife Sarah, became the most famous fleet commander on America's inland water ways. Fuson donated land where First Baptist Church now stands.

    I.R. Oct. 11, 1883 - Rev. Wm. Davidson, one of the veterans of this county, died at South Point, last week, and was buried on Sunday. Uncle Billy was well known, a most excellent citizen and christian man. His son, Commodore W. F. Davidson, of St. Paul, was at the funeral.

    Notes:

    Abraham and Mary lived on a plantation adjoining the town of Woodstock Shenandoah Co., Virginia. His will is on record in the Clerk's office in Woodstock, Va. Several years after his death his widow married Francis Reese.

    In the name of God Amen. I Abraham Brubaker of Shenandoah County in the State of Virginia, yeomen, being infirm in body but in my perfect sense and reason do make and ordain this my last will and testament in form following. That is to say I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, To be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix and touching such worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with, I will and bequeath in the following manner and form:
    I will and bequeath to Mary Brubaker my beloved wife two horses and two cows, first choice and remainder of my hogs that is not sold. Likewise I give to my son Samuel one stud horse called Saint George. Likewise I give to my beloved with Mary Brubaker one wagon and four sets of harnesses belonging to the wagon, on bar shear plough and shovel plough. I give her six beds and furniture, one large copper kettle and one coffee kettle and six dishes, one dozen of plates of pewter, and a dozen knives and forks of the choice, one years bread, and the full third's of my personal estate after all my debts is paid. Likewise I give my second son John Brewbaker one two years old mare called Jehoseb and one saddle and bridle. Likewise I give my third son Abraham one yearling stud colt called Republican. Likewise I give my fourth son Daniel Brewbaker one yearling mare colt Republican. Likewise I will and bequeath to all my children and equal part of my estate exclusive of the above mentioned gifts. That is to say Samuel, John, Abraham, Daniel, David, Jacob, Catharine, Rebekah Brubaker
    Likewise, I desire that my estate be converted into money and my executors to hold the money in their hands and to pay my children their legacies as they come of age.
    Likewise, I Abraham Brubaker do acknowledge by this testament that I am perfectly willing to give up all my right and title of a deed for land on which Woodstock town now stands except one acre of ground where the dwelling house and stable stands, provided that Susannah Strickler, Catharine, Rhodes, Christen Strickler, Anna Coffman and Mary Lionbarger comes forward and gives an indemnified bond to me, or my executors to clear me of my heirs Admas or assigns from all damages, respecting my father Abraham Brubaker and my own conduct, respecting the town of Woodstock.
    I Abraham Brubaker do choose by beloved wife Mary Brubaker and Daniel Stover to be my executors.
    And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former will in any other ways before named, willed, bequeathed, relating and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.     Notes:

    Nathaniel settled on the land that originally was cleared by Baccus, Baccus had lived there for several years, he had farmed some, hunted some, but was not content, so he moved on down below Pine Creek. Nathaniel was a farmer so this land was perfect for him, he took possession as land owner, and paid considerable attention to an apple orchard, setting the trees on exact row, and trimming them so as to make them sightly, and of even balance. He hunted for a pass-time and was one of the best of marksmen with the rifle; kept a blacksmith shop, with a few blacksmith tools for his own convenience; for sometime acted in the capacity of Associate Judge of the court; was a good neighbor; lost his eyesight; became a member of the Baptist Church, and died a Christian in his 80th year. Nathaniel is buried in Aid Cemetery, Aid, Lawrance, Ohio along with his wife, Elizabeth.

  5. 12.  William Davidson was born 20 Nov 1747, Sussex Co., Delaware (son of Lewis Davidson and Comfort Warrington); died 16 Nov 1811.

    Notes:

    William was called "Ranger" because of his Revolutionary War service with the Pennsylvania frontier rangers, keel boated down the Ohio River in 1798 to settle land purchased in the most southern point of the future state, Ohio. After establishing his land claim, bordering a mile of river front and extending a mile back in to the hills, Ranger brought his second wife, Barbara McDole and their children to the future site of South Point in 1799. Because his land was in future Fayette and Perry townships, Davidson was the first settler in South Point and both townships although not the first resident in Perry, since his house was in Fayette. William father 5 children with Rosanna and 10 with Barbara. The DAR and Rangers descendants placed a monument at the corner of Old 52 and Solida Road in South Point in 1941. A second monument was placed at the village park in 1988 during the village governments centennial celebration.
