    Notes:

    Elmer E. Cause of death - acute peritonitis brought on by injuries sustained from a horse while being shoes. Taken to the hospital but never recovered.

    Elmer E. born January 6, 1867 and died 1917 married Elizabeth Law. He was the owner and operator of one of the first blacksmith and machine shops in South Point, on Old 52 and Ferry Street. They also had a photography business named E.E. Brubaker and Company. Floating Portraits and Landscape which was a small houseboat that went from South Point to Catlettsberg, Kentucky. (Photo Included.) Elizabeth Law born 1872 died 1936, daughter of Henry (B. 1844 D. 1900) and Mary, never remarried after Elmer death, she took in boarders who were working on the road and railroad. She loved sewing, quilting and was a good hand to care for the old, sick and new mothers. She owned the first radio in the area, so friends would come from miles around to listen to it.     Semi Weekly Register May 22, 1917
    Elmer E. Brubaker, aged 50 years. 4 months and 25 days, died at 11 o'clock a.,. Monaday at the Keller hospital from the effects of an injury sustained by him as he was shoeing a horse last week. He was the black smith at South Point and while at his work last week was injured internally when a horse he was shoeing lunged violently. He was brought to the hospital her Saturday, but there was no chance, for his recovery. Mr. Brubaker was one of the best known citizens of South Point and his death will prove a real loss to his community. He is survived by his wife and several children. He was an honest, straightforward citizen, a loyal husband and father. No definite arrangements have been made for the funeral. The body is being prepared for burial at "Blingaman & Jones undertaking parlor.

    Obit Feb 9, 1936
    Mrs. Elizabeth Brubaker of South Point, widow of Elmer Brubaker, passed away Friday at 2 a.m. after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the South Point M. E. Church. Rev Law of Coal Grove, assisted by the South Point Chapter of the O. E. S., will conduct services. Burial will be made in White Cottage cemetery in charge of Gholson & Son.
    She is survived by three children, Clarence of Ironton and Marion of South Point and Edith at home.

    After an illness of two and one half years duration, Daniel Brubaker, 85 died at his home at Sheridan, Ohio early Wednesday morning. Although death was not unexpected announcement of the passing of this pioneer resident threw a shroud of sorrow around the homes of friends.
    Mr. Brubaker was born, reared and spent his entire life in the vicinity of Sheridan and during the time made innumerable friends by his upright character and winning personality. His passing is the community's loss and his place will not soon be filled. Two daughters and one son survive.

    Daniel seems to have been a Justice of the Peace. Have seen listed in several places where he preformed marriages in Lawrence Co., Ohio

    Daniel, served on grand jury in 1818, and was a Lawrence Co., Commissioner in the 1820's.{taken from "History of Lawrence Co., Ohio 1990 page 305}

    Daniel came west from the Shenandoah Valley on horseback with a bag of money hidden in his bed roll, to buy land in Perry Township, at the mouth of Solida Creek. He first ran a grind mill then later a sawmill. {taken from "History of Lawrence Co., Ohio 1990 page 99}

    Marshal Shutes information reads: Judge John Davisson, father of Margaret who married Daniel Brubaker. Judge John Davisson was born in Maryland in 1777, came to Ohio in 1801. He was the first judge of Lawrence County, and served three terms in State Legislature 1821 to 1826. Judge John Davisson married Susanah Lambert, who was born in New Jersey 20 days after the signing of the Declaration of Independence4.

  3. 10.  William Warrington Davidson was born 6 Nov. 1798, Fayette County, Pennsylvania (son of William Davidson and Barbara McDole); died Oct. 1883.

    Notes:

    William came to Ohio with his father in 1799, when he was only six months old. He was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania. He had been a minister of the gospel for about fifty years. In 1833 William Warrington donated land for South Points first church building where the congregation began attending. He was ordained a minister in 1842 and pastor the church. His sons were active in farming and steamboat operations. His son Fuson by his first wife Sarah, became the most famous fleet commander on America's inland water ways. Fuson donated land where First Baptist Church now stands.

    I.R. Oct. 11, 1883 - Rev. Wm. Davidson, one of the veterans of this county, died at South Point, last week, and was buried on Sunday. Uncle Billy was well known, a most excellent citizen and christian man. His son, Commodore W. F. Davidson, of St. Paul, was at the funeral.
