Therefore the meeting after deliberate Consideration agrees to disown the said John Rees from being any longer a member of our Society until he comes to a true Sense of his outgoing and make Satisfaction for the Same..."

Additional information found in the "Joliffe Family" pages 151-152 footnote:
Benjamin Carter was a son of William Carter and Mary Hayhurst, his wife (who was the daughter of Cuthbert Hayhurst, of Easington, in Yorkshire, England, who settled in Middletown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He came over with Penn in the "Welcome." He died March 5, 1683, at the age of fifty; was imprisoned 1654 and 1666 and at other times for his religious testimony). Benjamin Carter was of Bucks County, Pennsylvania; married, 1736, Margaret Hollingsworth; they had a son, Samuel Carter, born there, but removed to Frederick County, Virginia, and settled near Round Hill. He married Ann Chambers, of Frederick County, Virginia. Their son, Joseph Chambers Carter, married Elizabeth (Neill) Lupton (born 1777, died 1853), daughter of John and Ann Rees (nee Neill), his wife, who was the daughter of Lewis and Lydia (Hollingsworth) Neill. History of the Descendants of James Paul of Northern Ireland:
    Marriage Certificate
"This may certify that this day John Reese and Sarah Paul, both of the Township of Amwell and County of Washington and State of Pennsylvania, were joined together in marriage and pronounced lawful husband and wife by me, David Sutton, Minister of the Gospel at Bethlehem Township.
"As witness our hands this ninth day of July, 1789.
In the presence of us, Joseph Ginnings, Prycilla Gaddis, Reese Gaddis, Thomas Reese
John Reese died in February or March, 1821 (Will Book Vol. 3 Page 403). His second wife's son, William Paul was made one of the executors. She is not mentioned in the will, so she probably died first.

Same source give the Will of James Paul dated 1786...Witnesses were Norris Rees, Hugh Keys and Samuel Holloway

[I haven't found anything to date on a Norris Rees]

Another source says he died Nov. 1, 1821 Amwell Twp., PA and that he was married to Sarah Paul.

    Source: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com:
John obtained land in Washington County from the state of Pennsylvania. He called the farm "Beaverdam," certainly an appropriate name for land divided by a creek. It was located in both Amwell and West Bethlehem Townships. According to the 1996 Washington Co., Pa., Plat Book, these lands are now owned by Joseph Stopka, Weaver, R. Zipko, Thomas Hambleton, and Owens families, among others. John's wife, Nancy Carter, died about 1787. John married a second time, to Sarah Huston Paul, the widow of his neighbor, James Paul. Nancy was the mother of John's first nine children, and Sarah was the mother of the last two.

Descendants of both of these early Rees settlers (John and Thomas) remain in Washington County, and parts of Fayette and Greene Counties.
